We are beyond excited to announce that Kadama ranked 1st place out of 110 startups in the 2020 Northwest Entrepreneur Competition and won $10,000. We competed against phenomenal teams and are truly humbled by this victory. Thank you to the judges, sponsors, and NEC Team for making this possible.
We’re so excited to say that we received a $25,000 award after our final presentation to 40 judges at the UW Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship Jones+Foster Accelerator. In summer of 2016, we were just high school kids with a dream to make an impact and provide opportunities for those who need it the most. We had no idea how to build an app, let alone a company. Marwan and Amin met up on a rainy day in Bellevue, WA for the first time, and even though they had no idea how to start a company, they promised each other that they’ll make it happen. Fast forward 3 years later—a rollercoaster of some of the biggest ups and downs—our app, Kadama, is in the hands of many making an impact day by day. Our team has been working endlessly to make this happen. But most importantly, we could not have done this without the help of our amazing advisors: Amy, Sarah, Alexa, Alex, Terry, Greg, and Andy. This is only the start. Stay tuned for the documentary and thank you all for your support.
It’s official! Kadama has launched! We’ve taken months of valuable feedback from our 3,000 user beta and revamped Kadama for the best customer experience for both our requesters and providers. From the introduction of our secure payment platform, to our redesigned requests page, we’ve refined the app to help you make and fulfill requests faster than ever. We are launching with our first service, tutoring. If you are in the Eastside and Greater Seattle area, you can request tutoring today in a variety of subjects from experienced tutors, many of whom have been handpicked by the Kadama team.
Key Update Features:
• Payment Page - We have built a secure credit card payment platform using Stripe. Requesters can pay a provider directly from the Kadama app, and providers can use the new payout dashboard to view their history and cash out instantly
• Requests Page - A newly redesigned requests page which enables easy access to both currently active requests as well as completed requests. Find a new provider in the active requests tab, or contact an old provider who did an excellent job from the completed requests page
• College badges for providers currently enrolled at a qualifying institution
• Dark mode and new help page
We are extremely excited to continue building features and expanding into new categories. The Kadama team would also like to take a moment to thank our amazing mentors Alexa, Andy, Greg, Terry, and Alex, as well as the UW Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship, for the constant support and valuable advice.
The Kadama Team
The Kadama team is extremely excited to announce that Kadama has been admitted into the 2019 Jones + Foster Accelerator program. Kadama will receive mentorship by entrepreneurs and investors from across the region and is eligible to earn up to $25,000 in funding.
Kadama is one of 36 teams to advance to the next round at the University of Washington Startup Competition! We are excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to continue sharing our vision and progress.
After 2 months of traction and reaching 100+ ratings on the App Store, Kadama ranked top 21 under lifestyle. This is a huge milestone and something we couldn't be more proud of.
Another one of our interns, Samyak Sawale, was recently elected as the state president of Washington DECA. Outside of Kadama, Samyak is actively involved in many roles in his community as a leader, a teammate, and a friend. During the past few years, he has committed himself to multiple aspects of the business field like competing in DECA at an international level, and earning a place within the Global Top 10 for Sports and Entertainment Marketing Operations research. He is also the co-founder of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) at Skyline High School and plans on taking his work internationally by conducting research on the social, local, and mobile media marketing trends developed by consumers. Through DECA he developed skills like time management and dedication that he now uses on the community outreach team at Kadama. We are confident that Samyak will use these skills to push Kadama and the community forward.
Two of our interns, Nour Ayad and Yash Talwar became national champions of the Future Business Leaders of America Business Plan Competition. This extraordinary victory was a result of nine months of hard work and dedication. At Kadama, we take great pride in the accomplishments of our employees. Our vision has always revolved around the idea of unleashing one’s unique abilities, not just for our customers but employees as well. Both have implemented their skills within the company in a tremendous way. We are confident that they will make great strides in our world in the years to come.
Through time, great inventions have shaped the way we live. These inventions have allowed us to excel and un-tap the limits of what is possible. In today’s market, a large part of what is needed is problem identification. Kadama identifies the problem you have and sets you up with the people to fix it. With Kadama, the experience doesn’t begin when you open the app, it begins when you start your day. We are committed to providing you the most efficient and convenient way for completing your tasks—from the moment you need it until the job is done. In essence, Kadama is a tool. A tool that everyone can use to fulfil their needs. Whether you are a self-taught cook or a casual hobbyist, Kadama can turn your skill into work, and that same work into money. Kadama isn’t just an app, it’s a connector. A connector of places. A connector of jobs. A connector of people.
